Through the Ecodialogo project we’ve gained an insight into philosophical dialogue, seen as chance of organizing school activities in which:

  • self-awareness and self-assessment can develop,

  • the role of meta-cognition in thinking can be highlighted,

  • school time can be linked to complex, real-life situations,

  • spontaneous changing in beliefs, tendencies and strategies by means of an internal restructuring process can be fostered.

“In communal dialogue (…) information is both mediated through the other, and individually constructed, but never directly transmitted. Education is understood as a form of hermeneutics. Community of inquiry in education is possible in all subject matters, and will take different forms depending on the curriculum to which it is applied.” (Kennedy D., 2001).

Philosophy for children makes school community get closer to the core of the educative question: reconstructing meaning, for children and adults, of our journey into everyday life.
